With roots in the 18th century as a former naval base modernized by the Marquis of Ensenada under the reigns of Philip V and Ferdinand VI, the Cartagena shipyard remains part of Spain’s government-owned shipyard network. Today it is integrated into Navantia, created in 2005 after a major restructuring, and now features a dedicated department specialized in refits and maintenance of superyachts, supported by first class facilities. Its privileged location on the southern Mediterranean further enhances its strategic value.
